Donors are generous, and we are grateful. But generosity is not infrastructure, and a charity that depends entirely on monthly giving is more fragile than it needs to be.
This fund builds toward independence. Funds raised here go toward farming infrastructure on the Nyandarua property — a borehole and water tank, a dairy shed for milk goats, a vegetable garden and chicken coops, irrigation lines, fencing, and the start-up animals and seedlings. Once running, the farm reduces our monthly food bill substantially and teaches the children practical skills they take into adult life. Our target is $40,000 for the full setup.
This is the fund where a single large gift produces compounding annual returns. A $500 monthly donor gives us $6,000 a year. A $5,000 gift to this fund produces vegetables, milk, and eggs in perpetuity. Both matter. They do different things.
The children are part of the farm work. It is one of the reasons Rev. Stephen insisted on a rural site for the Nyandarua home from the very beginning.
