Volunteer

Two real ways to help.

In-person volunteers spend time at the homes — teaching, supporting staff, sharing skills with the children. Remote volunteers contribute professional skills that help us run better. Both are vetted. Both matter.

Stream i

In-person at the homes

Spend time at one of the three homes — Nyandarua, Uthiru, or Nakuru. Teach, support staff, share skills with the children, share a Sunday. Stays start at one week, with most volunteers staying two to four weeks.

  • Minimum stay: 7 nights
  • Background check (DBS-equivalent) required
  • Two references required
  • Child safeguarding policy signed before arrival
  • Travel and accommodation at the volunteer's cost

Stream ii

Remote skills-based

Contribute professional skills from anywhere — writing, photography editing, web maintenance, accounting, design, prayer ministry. We match offered skills to current needs with a real role and a real expected output.

  • 1–10 hours per month, ongoing
  • Quarterly check-in with the office
  • Specific scope agreed before you start
  • Light — these are not paid jobs in disguise

A note on volunteering with children

Every in-person volunteer signs Jesus Helpers' child safeguarding policy before any visit. Background checks are required. References are checked. We err on the side of the children every time, and we expect every volunteer to share that priority.
